Fictional application concept01 / 05

Field-service operations

Keep every crew, constraint, and customer promise on the same plan.

ForgeFlow

ForgeFlow turns intake, crew fit, schedule changes, field status, and closeout into one dispatcher-approved operating loop.

Kestrel Service Group · Four commercial HVAC, plumbing, and electrical crews
The fictional brief
Give dispatch one clear day plan, explain the tradeoffs behind every assignment, and keep the field packet attached to the work order.

Working prototype

Try the operating idea, not just the screens.

Every control below changes local browser state. Use the navigation inside the product, complete the sample workflow, and reset it whenever you want to replay the story.

Use the reset control inside the application to return to the seed scenario.

01

Starting point

The schedule existed in one place. The truth of the day lived in five.

In this fictional scenario, dispatch began in a spreadsheet. Urgent work arrived by phone and email, access notes remained in text threads, and field progress returned through interruption-heavy calls.

An open time slot did not prove that the right certification, vehicle, travel window, or customer access was available. Moving one job could quietly break several later promises.

02

Customer ask

Make the operational tradeoff visible before the schedule changes.

The modeled brief asks for one day plan that qualifies requests, recommends eligible crews, previews downstream changes, and still leaves the final decision with a dispatcher.

Every crew needs a complete job packet: contact, access, required skill, parts, notes, and the definition of ready for review.

03

What we designed

A constraint-aware dispatch board with one accountable loop.

Structured intake identifies what makes a request ready. The board explains crew fit, shows travel and capacity, and presents a before-and-after plan before anything moves.

Field status and closeout feed the same local prototype state, proving how dispatch, crew, and manager views can share one record without pretending a backend exists.

Scene by scene

Every screen earns its place in the workflow.

  1. 01

    Dispatch board

    What you are seeing

A crew-by-time schedule keeps planned, active, at-risk, and unassigned work in one legible field.

    Problem solved

A blank slot can be mistaken for real capacity when travel, skills, and later commitments are hidden.

    Try this

Select work, change the day, inspect details, or begin assigning the urgent Beacon Dental request.

  2. 02

    Request triage

    What you are seeing

Priority, window, duration, skill, access, and notes form a complete scheduling request.

    Problem solved

Dispatch cannot make a reliable commitment from a one-line email or voicemail.

    Try this

Open an unassigned request and compare eligible technicians with visible reasons.

  3. 03

    Crew run

    What you are seeing

The next job carries the contact, access, checklist, parts, and current status into the field.

    Problem solved

A schedule without the job packet sends crews back to calls, texts, and office memory.

    Try this

Advance job status and see the same state reflected back on the dispatch board.

  4. 04

    Daily closeout

    What you are seeing

Labor, parts, evidence, exceptions, and the next owner determine whether work is ready for review.

    Problem solved

Completed work often waits because the office must reconstruct what happened.

    Try this

Filter readiness, review the record, and reset the complete demo day.

What the concept connects

ForgeFlow

  • Constraint-aware scheduling and explained crew fit
  • Shared dispatch and field status
  • Before-and-after schedule preview
  • Review-ready operational closeout
Prototype boundary

This prototype changes local browser state only. It does not send assignments, contact customers, track real crews, or save records.
